ever since the bombing of the Boston marathon and seeing them catch the guy hiding in a boat under a cover. They used FLIR to see him and see him very well. What if he'd been hiding in a shed with a metal roof? Could they have found using FLIR?

Yes, they could of still seen him. FLIR is not radar, it see's int he infrared spectrum. That metal roof wouldn't have much insulation.

Maybe. It would depend upon a lot of variables, insulation, how close he was to the metal roof, how close it was to the diurnal crossover.

If you enter most buildings you will be concealed from FLIR.
But there are a lot of variables. Current temperature outside vs. the interior of the building vs. the person. Wall thickness. Amount of insulation, etc.
