Well.... I do have several 38s on 44 frames, S&W Heavy duty and Outdoorsman revolvers. But I work in a gunshop and I'm sure I know the kinds of tales you speak of.

I also remember that many a person would come in to the gunstore and say "My ________ (insert relative here) Has a 38 on a 44 frame......" Probably more people claim to have an S&W Heavy Duty 38/44 than S&W ever made.

I had a fellow tell me that he shot a 4 inch group at 1000 yards, off the bench at the High Ore gun range south of boulder, MT. I didn't bother to mention that I was a member of that range, and the longest shot off the benches was 400 yards- Matter of fact, I had installed one or two of those benches on the last clean-up day.

Does anyone remember the stories from 50 plus years ago when the 357 Magnum was new and how it would shoot "Through a Buick engine"?.
