I bought a vintage Weaver v7 Steel Lite-II for a Marlin 336 Texan I had recently bought at a great price. Upon initial review, it was apparent that the nearly new look of the scope didn't match up well with the worn Texan and decided to mount it on my like new Marlin 336 from 1981 that was converted to .307Win. It replaced an old Tasco World Class 2-8x32 that served me well for years but recently has started peeling it's "rubberized" finish and has a focus issue above 6x. Quite pleased with the results!!!!!
Not quite the equal optically to newer glass, but in testing this evening at dusk, I was still able to see into the dark areas around ye' old home stead until way past legal hours. As an added bonus, I checked and found that this scope was also made the same year as the rifle. So, it's very likely a combo like this could easily been bought brand new together back then.
