A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

Ruger Hawkeye African .375, with Leupold VX3 2.5-8, McWoody stock, and common Springbok.
I'd rather be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave....

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

2.5-8x36. Mainly looking to see how low I bought the first Leupy VariX 2.5x8 I ever saw back in 1977 and used it for about 20 years on a M70 7RM in "Conetrol low rings". The front and rear of the scope are small enough it will clear the barrel and bolt with the "lowest" ring height of most mount systems. However, you may or may not want to squirm your cheek that low into the stock. For me, in general when I get a rifle into shooting position my eye is automatically in alignment with the scope barrel most often with medium height rings. It depends on stock and face shapes! Happy Hunting

Had this one for 20+ years , it's the old Vari X model. Been on this rifle, Remington 700 with the cheap 'Tupperware' stock, 30/06. Does the job and, most important, I have confidence in it. [/URL]
