This makes two bears in 5 days for us. My son got one on Monday and it was my turn Saturday. I shot her with my Custom Shop Rem KS .350 mag with a 200 gr Barnes TSX over TAC.

NICE!

I like the nice even coats on the fall bears better than spring bears.

I like the fall bears too. Just have to get them late enough so they don't slip. I've seen a few comeback with half the hair slipped.

November anywhere is plenty late enough.

Thanks guys. This one was taken from the same stand site as the one my son shot a few days earlier. Mine was a little smaller.

I shot her as she was facing me from a stand. She put her head down when she started to walk and the bullet entered the top of her neck, just an inch or two past her skull. It came out the base of the neck. She dropped instantly.

This was his:

Good looking bear. Mostly black color phase out there? Also, what is their primary food source, acorns, corn?

I know of only black in color, but their may be variations. These bears live in and around swamps in very thick cover. Mast will feed them during the day, but they tend to feed on the farms after dark. Agriculture that attracts them consists primarily of peanuts, soybeans and corn. A poor mast year does not have a major impact on them like our bears in the western part of the state (mountains). Some reach weights north of 600 pounds. Many 400-500 pound bears are killed every year, mostly by houndsmen. The record weight topped 800.

This one went 782:
