I didn't want to hijack the 308 TTSX 308 thread but wondered why you never seem to hear about using this bullet in a 30-06 but hear a lot about it being pushed out of a 308Win. Maybe the topic has been covered but I don't recall it ever being talked about. I would think that the performance would be about the same in the 06, right?

I've seen it mentioned more than a few times, it's a 30 caliber bullet, it's gonna do the same stuff in an 06 that it does in a 308, just a little faster getting there.
I know for me and my pards, we seldom use long action cartridges any longer. The 30/06 was my only hunting rifle for many years but I haven't fired one in anger in over 10 years.

When I started using it in my .308 my brother began trying it in his 30.06. Just as Steelie predicted about a 150 fps faster and identical performance.
His son used it last week to kill his first two deer ( does ), and both were DRT. His son has now commandeered that 30.06.
Can't see either of us going to a Cup and Core again.

The 30/06 was my only hunting rifle for many years but I haven't fired one in anger in over 10 years. Best therapy ever...

Sportdog,
I shoot the 130g TTSX in a circa early 70's M700 BDL 06'. I shoot them with a healthy dose of RL-17 and get right at 3098 fps (30* 1k above sea level) out of the factory setup. They shoot like a house fire and hit just about as hard. It will keep them under a half inch at 100 yards all day and most of the time in something more like a ragged hole. I have to crimp them 0.005 or they move around in the magazine when the rifle is begin fired.
I have killed a few smaller whitetails with them. The ones that didn't fall like a bolt of lightning hit them were no trouble to track even on perfect broadside double lung shots. The bloodtrail was reminiscent of a small child playing with a gallon of paint. I have never recovered one.
I have killed deer with many different bullets. I haven't found any load that shot even close to as well as these do in this particular rifle. I like them!

I'm running the money-tipped version over RL15 and hoping to find some testing medium pretty quickly here. Very accurate. Can't imagine tipped wouldn't be more of the same.

I might have to try 130's, myself. My #1 Ruger will run 150's 3125fps, and I expect 130's would go over 3300.
For those who have used them in the '06, what powder worked best?

At 60000 PSI I load mine higher like the 270 or 308. Works well in single shots and bolts.

55 grains of Varget gets the job done.
It would be a great elk load. It sure kills deer well from an -06, including lung shots.
