I'm not sure the tip is needed on anything .308 caliber and larger. However, I do shoot the 120 gr TTSX in my 7-08 and the 80 gr TTSX in my 243 Win. Yet, if the rifle liked the tipped version, I would have zero reservations using them.

Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with either bullet. I really like the performance of the Barnes bullets and usually reach for them first when developing a load, so my opinion is a bit biased. Yet, prior to that, I would look at nothing except a NP.

My go to loads for 200-gr Nos is H1000, or H4831sc. Nothing not to love about a .308 200gr Partition or NAB IMHO.

H-1000 gets mentioned a lot regarding .300 WM/200 NPT loads. Also 4831.

I've always used 180 NBT/180 NAB's in my Win Mag. I've never loaded a 200 Partition or any other 200 gr. bullet, so this is new territory for me. I look forward to seeing how these bullets shoot. Everything I read points to a classic combo and maybe one of the most accurate .300 WM loads of all.

Would be interested to know what powder to use with the 168 TTSX. Just starting to load for my Tikka T3.

With that bullet, I have a very good load using H-4831 velocity is 3175 fps. (300 Win. Mag.)

I haven't loaded those, but have a lot of faith in Barnes load data. They show 73 gr. IMR-4831 (max) @ 3,140 fps with the 168 (accuracy load).

I see IMR/H-4831 oft quoted as among the best accuracy powders for the .300 WM. The "H" version will be more temp stable, "IMR", not so much.

Reloder 19 is often super-accurate with 165-168's in the .300 Winchester, not surprising since its burn-rate is very similar to IMR4831. But it isn't as temp-resistant as H4831.
