Wondering if any southpaws here have the Browning Citori 725?

I'm looking at 12ga, field grade model. What do you think of it? Southpaw friendly regarding cast?

It seems to have gotten good reviews. Only criticism I heard are the triggers are not really mechanical.

How's the recoil on them? They seem pretty light compared to the typical Citori lineup.

Thank you for your feedback!

I looked at the Citori, and abandoned it. When I looked, they were cast off for a right handed shooter. I went with a shotgun without cast off. YMMV

I have a couple of Berettas so no help on your Browning. You might find this link useful:

I haven't handled a 725 Field version but I have a 725 Sporting Left Hand. It has a left hand palm swell and cast for a southpaw. In comparison to my 625 LH, the 725 is lighter with good balance. Recoil may be a little more but not enough to make a difference. All things considered, I prefer the handling of the 725. Hope that helps.

MarcL22, a local gunshop has a used 725 Sporting Left Hand. Not sure how I feel about porting on the barrels.

kcm270, what southpaw friendly shotgun did you end up with?

JFE, thank you for the link!

I was looking for a light 20, but ended with a Franchi Renaissance 28 ga. 5 and 1/4 lbs of deadly pheasant shooter. I'm whacking birds as well as I can with a 12 ga for 90% or more of the shots out to any reasonable range.

The other shotgun is a Weatherby Orion 12 ga.

I am a south paw and bought a 725 feather last year after finding the Beretta Silver Pigeon unusable for me in their standard offering. The 725 is pretty neutral on the cast, at least mine is. I am pleased with it and shoot it well. I have only fired low base trap loads in it and recoil is not an issue with them. I suspect high base magnum loads would get your attention.

You can find the Beretta and Browning O/U with the proper left hand cast stocks if you think it's an issue for you. Start with Joel Etchen Guns
