Currently on my eleventh F150 since 1979, a couple 300 Inline 6's, a bunch of 5 liters and now a second EcoBoost. Wouldn't own anything but a Ford....

Ford in their XL trucks still use manual 4 wheel drive shifter. At least the 2014 still had them. Once you get up to the XLT then they go to the automatic 4 wheel drive system.

Just got back from WA. 900+ miles each way. Averaged 19.4 on the way up with two guys and about 800lbs. of gear.

Speed was between 65-80 on the way up.

Averaged 18.5 on the way home. Drove straight through at a little higher speed. Needed to get home before I fell asleep.

2013 4x4 SuperCrew with the short bed and 3.55 gears.
36 gal tank. Just turned 40k miles and is almost ready for tires.

The Explorer with the EB is now at 2500 miles. Still about 18 in town and 22 on the highway, a bit better if 65 mph or less.

Looking at getting a 2015 F-150 with the EB, probably the 3.5 liter version vs. the 2.7. Just did a trip to MN with the current Avalanche with the 5.3 liter motor and the average for the 1300 mile trip was 21 mpg. If the EB will do that, I would be happy as the motor definitely has more pull than the 5.3

I am shopping for a new 1/2 ton but I cannot ever recall in 36 years of owning ever measuring fuel usage. Way low on the list of what I look at when I buy.

Me too, but people like to talk about it so I pay attention. It's a necessary eveil of having a vehicle so it is what it is.

I have to at least consider mpg, I commute 56 miles per day for work. Not a major factor, but a consideration.
