Sean: As much as I love my 1911s and carried (and flew with) one practically my entire life, I've now gone to a Glock 31 and 21 and might even get me on in that wimpy 9mm too...

A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

A fixed blade is a great asset as well especially in close quarters where you may not be able to deploy a firearm very well?

The BHP is mighty comforting, though if a G19 presents itself for the appropriate range, it'll be had.

124 gr., .355", GoldDots at 1225 will work.

Fixed blades of any length are illegal to the same degree as firearm without the impossible permit in MD. Just an FYI.

Damn Baltimore anyway.

Growing up we used to leave Belvoir for a day watching the Orioles.

Sad to see what its become.

Mackey,

I agree with you completely. I generally carry a Beretta 92F with 2 spare reloads, 45 rounds of 9mm to influence the situation. I hope I never need it but in todays world trouble can often come looking for you.

This is the perfect opportunity to test the penetration of Gold Dots.

It also makes my point exactly as to why I often tell people that in this day and age it is prudent to carry a high capacity auto such as a Glock 9mm.

Single stacks and J frames are fine for one, maybe two opponents, but when you have groups of opportunistic urban blacks who are more often than not prone to extreme violence, it is imperative to be able to have the on board capacity to deal with these animals decisively.

Run out of bullets in your little J frame, while protecting your head from getting smashed by a metal trash can, or getting curb stomped, and that crowd will quickly overwhelm you.

Think of the scene in Blackhawk Down where Shugart and Gordon were over run by Skinnies after their 1911s ran dry.

The sad reality is that these vicious blacks shown in the videos are just as prone to kill a white man, or woman as the Somalians.

M_S,

You make an excellent point, and one worthy of consideration.

You must also realize that is nearly impossible for a citizen in Maryland, and especially in Baltimore, to be able to legally carry anything for self defense, especially a handgun and even those are limited to no more than 10 rounds.

and it's interesting to note most of these things happen in areas where gun control laws are pretty strong.

you know they make two round extenders for a glock 17 mag, turning it with one in the chamber to 20 rounds.
Then there are the 32round jobbies for the g18 one can buy.
