I'm about to try my first knife out of O1. I have done hobby heat treating before that turned out fine but I'm going to send this one out. Who do you recommend that is good for one or two blades. Hunting style blade about 4-1/4".

If you don't know a knife maker that is familiar with 01, Texas knife makers would prob be best for onsie twosie.

When it comes to knives and guns, what does NEED have to do with it?

I'd check with peters. Before I started doing my own heat treat I used them and they were great to work with. They will oil quench.
