I was told a win model 70 barrel can work in a rem 700 due to the thread being more fine on one of them and the other is more course.
Is this true?

Thread pitch is the same, but the Remington is larger in diameter. Not interchangeable.

Won't work. A post m70 is either 1X16 or 1X28 I believe. The Remington is 1.062X16.

A pre-BACO M70 is 1", 16 tpi.. A BACO M70 is 1.062", and 28 tpi.

( A couple BACOs varied a bit on tenon diam..being 1.062-1.067 - measured a few times to be certain.. )

It might work only IF the M70 barrel is a BACO. It would need rethreading obviously, since the Rem is a 16 tpi but it would end up having really sloppy, messy threads and not an advisable thing to do..

If I were asked to perform such a task I would have to pass..
