Anyone here ever used a wood stove(Lightweight) in a Go lite shangri la 4. Installed a stove jack? Any thoughts?

I have used one quite a bit. Good shelter, but would now go with the SO Cimmaron. Twin zippers, sod skirt and stove jack all for around $400.

Works fine. Install stove jack so that the little vent hoops shelter the top seam of the jack. Weathertight.

Now to research stove jack installation.

I went high side. Made a paper template about same size as the two vent screens that are fore and aft. Sent to TiGoat, who made a custom jack for a very reasonable price.
Had two interior sil-nylon flaps with velcro edges made to cover inside top vents.
Damn nice to eat in comfort and sip cider while its snowing.
Stove (medium) is from EdT.
Great to cook on.

I checked the specs on the Cimarron, and can't find where it states if the 30D cordura is UV protected or not. I remember early on that most (all?) of the SO shelters used UV protected fabrics, but I'm not finding that info listed now. I've been guilty lately of getting sloppy with my speed skimming though, so apologies in advance.

Thanks for the reply Kevin. The Cimarron is on my short list of gear wants.

I've been using this one since 2009 with a Ti goat cylinder stove. I sewed the stove jack in where the rear vent is, and added a 6" sil nylon sod skirt. I cut out the original vent cover and sewed Velcro around the edges and if I don't have the stove in place, the cover velcros in and covers the stove jack.

Mod7,

That's a pretty setting. Be nice to sit there in a lawn chair and a glass of scotch.

I agree, it's a beautiful area. It got even better once we had these two Stone's next to the tent:)
