So is the darker grey, not so shiny section of metal to the left of the 6061 the original metal from the handle where you done some machining? Also, would you take our handles shipped to you to do it (i.e. prep it, thread it with 5/16-24) and send them back?

Yep, I can thread your factory handles. Yes, the darker oxide finish is the factory handle. The backside of the tenon is machined with a taper so it blends smoothly with the knob.
