I would like to put a sight on my Glock 34
I see the new MOS system but I have an older one
It looks like the C-More mount looks the most practical to me

Is that true? Anyone use this or any other suggestions?

My standard suggestion is to try it before you buy it, if at all possible. Most people like it far better in theory than in application.

ETA: The concept, not that particular sight.

I never have been much of a dot guy but I put a trs-25 on a Ruger pac lite and played with it today and liked it.

On my play pistls i love the dot, as well as when using it over 50 yds out. I only have experience with the deltapoint and trijicon, the leupold is gn and both of my M&P Cores have Trijicons.

They definitely help with accuracy but slow most shooters down versus iron sights. Pro shooters use dots that are frame mounted thus they stay put shot to shot versus the moving dot of slide mounted RD's

As Bluedreaux said, I highly recommend guys try them before committing.

I found mine to be great for distant targets but I could not get fast enough with the dot at typical pistol ranges.

Travis, there's a big difference between a cheapo setup like those linked above and setting the red dot into the slide with co-witnessed iron sights. You just line up the sights and the dot is there.

You mean something like the M&P CORE and a Delta Point?

I have 2 trijicons on CORES and a C-more frame mounted on my 2011. C-more is 100x faster.

Sorta but not really. Set the dot sight lower in the slide so the irons are actually useable. I don't think any of the factory options are done right, IMO. There are a number of places doing it, google "Suarez RMR" for example pics.

Anyone who says a dot alone is faster probably hasn't actually used a system like that.

Bingo. I found that I can line up the rear and front sight a LOT faster than I can obtain the dot in that little window. I suspect with a BUNCH more practice I could become faster with the dot, but I don't compete anymore so I'll stick with what I know.

If you can afford them Trijicon RMR or Leupold Deltapoint are great for pistols.

A dot alone is pretty slow unless it's mounted way forward of the grip. (Or with lots and lots of practice)

That's part of the reason for a system where the irons and dot work together.

The idea of me posting them is so the OP can try before committing.

Without knowing what you want to do with the 34 and dot, it's really hard to opine in any meaningful way.

Having run the full spectrum of the mounts suggested with various dots, I would suggest that one of those high mounts without iron sights is only going to bring about a 1/3 of the capability to the table. Most definitely, that setup will help you decide whether you like the idea of aiming a dot at a target, and can hit what you are aiming at.

What that setup also brings with it is a long learning curve to draw, present and find the dot. It's frustrating, and takes commitment. And if you do hang in there long enough, you will next find that it works fine for a very controlled range experience or game environment, but if you seek the next level where you want the gun to play a more serious shooting role, you will become frustrated.

There is a very large divide between plinking at the range or even hunting, and strapping one on to go to town.
