Killing a turtle is not easy!
A felony? Good thing there were no cell phones when I dispatched my first snapping turtle for soup. They ain't easy to kill, especially big ones. Or when I nailed it to a tree and to the brush loppers to em!!!  Felon!! Serial killer be more fittin'!!!

I'm just glad (as far as I know) there are no videos of me cleaning a snapping turtle. I broke the blade pin in a Buck pocket knife one time trying to cut the head off one. Gave it (the knife) to my friends Father and He send it in and got a new knife. miles

I took a soft shell turtle about the size of a 5 gal bucket lid off a trotline and dropped it off at old Trapper Jim Hawkins house on the way home one summer when I was about 15, that old man grinned big and shook my hand like a boss. Bet that sombuck was skinned and in [boiling water?] before I got home.

Witnesses told police that Washington never attempted to free the turtle from the line and said that the turtle was trying to get away from him, according to KXAN-TV.
The defense attorney should bring a hooked turtle into the court and ask the prosecutor to try and free it. When it goes sideways offer the prosecutor a hammer and make sure they have cameras in the court.
