The owner of the farm I do a lot of my deer and coyote hunting has asked me if I could use a quieter gun for most of my shooting. I don't know if it is him or his neighbors or just the amount of shooting I do, but I am trying to stay in his good graces as I shoot 4 or 5 deer and up to 10 coyotes a year off his place. I do most of my shooting with a 221 fireball, 250 savage, and 7-08, so I didn't think I was being that loud to begin with.

I do not like the cheap breed of rifles on the market today, but am considering the Ruger American in 300BLK for hunting on his place. I've never shot a 300BLK/AAC/Wisper, but I would assume about the same performance as a 30-30. How about noise without a can? Noise with a can and full power loads?

I get that it's primary reason for existence is silenced subsonic ammo, but is it still quieter with full power loads than other hunting rounds, silenced or not?

He'll never notice it with a can. It may sound like a muffed .22WMR.

i have a RAR 300 BLK. With subs and a can, it's no louder than an air rifle. With supersonics and a can, you can shoot all day without hearing protection. You hear the crack of the bullet, but the "bang" is gone.

My neighbor is about 200 yards(through the woods), and can't hear me shooting. You won't be disappointed with the accuracy either. Great shooting guns.

Without a suppressor and supersonic loads, it's still every bit as loud as a 30-30.

I shoot 300BLk subsonics with a can. I have no trouble with deer or smaller out to 100 yards. Haven't had need to shoot beyond that. As mentioned, nobody will complain of noise.
