I recently chronographed some Wolf Gold .223 55gr.; MV in Colt 6920 16" was 3000 fps. In a 20"-barreled Colt A4 it was 3144. PMC Bronze 55 showed 2790 and 2963, PMC X-TAC 55 was 2921 and 3114.

I may be cheap but I'm not that cheap. No steel in my guns.

steel case doesn't hurt anything, the money savings will more than pay for sooner parts interval changes. oh I forgot most guys don't actually shoot all that much. keep buying 69 grain gold medal match and paying too much.

the wolf steel case I shoot does just as well as the cheap budget brass offerings.

If steel ammo doesn't hurt anything, why would I need "sooner parts interval changes"?

Target Sports has the Wolf Gold for the same price and you don't have to join a club. Only 3 days from order to my door.

Neither have I...Not to say it has t been done, but the stag 6's which hung well in the 10 shot challenge will only do about 1.5 at best with the fmj array of ammo..

Even 10 shot FMJ if you have a 1.5 moa at 100, is amazing...

69 is cheap... if you are interested in accuracy. If all you are into is the noise and seeing dust downrange then steel case is just fine.

Rost, the stag 6 has done it once or twice but in no way am implying it's the norm

Ok, here's the promised range report.
Went to the range today to try out my sons new AR with the Wolf Gold ammo. It has a PSA 16", 1/7 twist, 5.56 chamber with Nitride finish. These were the first rounds fired in this gun.
Range was 100 yards. Scope was a Nikon P223 carbine 3x.

Chronograph data for 18 rounds, chrono at 15'.
Velocity - 3038 fps
ES - 90
SD - 27
5 shot group was 2.664"

I also shot a group with one of my AR's, this one is a Wilson Arms Hbar 18", 1/8 twist, Wylde chamber, SS. This gun is sub moa capable with good target ammo (but not necessarily all day long). laugh
Scope is a Nikon Monarch 3, 4-16x42 set on 16x

I would have to say that 2-1/2" is the capability of the ammo, about par for M193 clone. Shot clean with no FTF, FTE.

After seeing the results in the Wilson barrel I decided to spare my new Krieger upper the wear, so it didn't get to play today.

2 more pieces of tape and you could make that a 1.5" group... smile

That's about normal for M193 clone type ammo.

Yep, I was just poking fun at some of the guys who don't count "flyers".

Other than being a little light on the velocity side, it doesn't look like bad ammo. I just ordered more IMI at .35 cents a round. It won't print any smaller groups but it will leave me good strong brass to Ackleyize.

thanks for the report, the velocity is good, that is a nice range, nice pics. I am just guessing but could it be that IMI or PMC or MEN etc might do 2.5 inches for 10 shots??

I seldom shoot any cartridges that I don't handload, but in the last few months rounded up samples of a number of "cheap" 5.56 & .223 ammos (maybe ten) including Wolf Gold.I fired 100 yard groups with all of them using two new out-of-the-box Colts, an Expanse and a 6920. Both guns were scoped. While a few groups were under 2", I couldn't do that with any consistency regardless of which ammo was used.

Also tried the far more expensive match stuff from Federal, Hornady, and Winchester. Of course, as expected it shot accurately, but I found good handloads will do at least as well or better.

I have no interest in seeing how fast I can empty a magazine, but for those who do, there's nothing better than the cheap ammo. At least for me, it's been 100% reliable in feeding and firing, even if it's not the most accurate.

Yeah, I like the IMI ammo for the brass also. I got a 1200 round case of it a few months back but haven't shot much of it yet.

From what I have shot, it's no more accurate than the Wolf Gold.

I know that the IMI that I have does no better.
How is that MEN ammo you got shooting?

Yes the IMI or any other M193 type ammo is usually about 2MOA at best.

However the IMI that I've been getting is chronographing around 3150 fps in our 16" barrels which is closer to my hand loads and just makes me feel better knowing it's good brass.
