I am not the expert on early Savage engraving, but that doesn't look like Savage to me.

Carbine buttstock with a regular receiver and 22" barrel makes a guy wonder what serial number might be under the butt plate.

that engraving wasn't cataloged. A historian letter would be interesting. David

I'm not at home to look at my catalogs, but there was at least one, and I think more than one, rifle with this style engraving in the Julia auction(s) in 2012 and 2013, or whenever they were.

I don't see where he makes any claim it was engraved at the Savage factory. Am I missing something?

looks to light to be factory,,My opinion.
Some time back there was similar pattern shown here on the forum back about 6-8 years ago,,Maybe Blair or someone showed. Might be done later.
