Planning a trip in September for walleye and pike to either Sask. or Manitoba. Have fished Tobin a number of times and also Deifenbacher (not sure of the spelling) in Sask. Being from Montana I think Sask. would be a lot closer but .... looking for someplace new with lots of pike and walleye. I will be bringing a 89 year old friend with me, so I need some amenities like a cabin and guide for a few days. Anyone have any suggestions where the old fella would catch a lot of fish? Drive to would be better then fly-in, but I won't rule out flying in somewhere if the fishing is worth it.

That is west of my fishing "grounds", I am sure there are many lakes that will fit your bill. I hope this bump brings some help.

Not Manitoba or Sask. but we make an annual trip to Alberta and fish Gypsy Lake.
Drive to Ft. McMurray and fly out of there- short 20 minute flight)
It is Pike ONLY, catch and release ONLY. Accomodations are cabins, cooking by owners is out of this world.
Prices, are all inclusive ( even the airplane ride is included)
An AVERAGE day for two people will see you boat 100+ pike from 5-20 pounds. They provide boats, motors, gas etc forth price of your trip.

Don't know if they are open as late as Sept.

Besnard Lake in Sask is a pretty good place to go and they have cabins, boats and pretty much whatever else you might need if you don't want to haul your own boat.

Besnard is about on the same latitude as Lake La Ronge although you turn off about 100 miles and then drive a gravel road about 75 mi to the NE.

I've fished it a bunch of times.

Also have done several fly-in type adventures well north of Missinippee SK.

I've been to this place five or six times I think. Some incredible fishing.
