Matt - serious question - any knowledge/inkling/clairvoyant feelings about the quality or if there might be any minor design mods? Or do you think FN will just pick up where USRA left off with the same Model 70 and try for the same price point in the market?

The guys that are heading this up have a little different idea as to what the shootig public wants I think.
Take a look at their SPR sniper rifles.....they shot well and were made to better standards than your average model 70.
No guarantees at this point, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they bump up the quality from the last M70's made. If they don't, it sure won't be from a lack of yours truely telling them.

I think this whole idea of a "New Winchester" has been in the works for quite some time, but of course that's only speculation on my part.

If I owned a company that had a historical name, but lacked recent appeal, due to QC issues and such, while being hampered by high wages and union strongholds, the choice is clear.
Drop production for a year or two....gather the wagons...move operations....reintroduce an existing product to a drueling market, and offer it at a slightly higher cost, but with improvements to substantiate the price.

Don't be surprised if that's just what happens. I'm taking a gamble on this, but I'd be willing to bet that what you'll see, maybe for next hunting season, is an improved, higher-quality model 70, priced competitively.
