I emailed Remington and here is the response I got:

The Model 7600 Weathermaster has a nickel plated receiver, magazine, and outside of barrel. This is different from the 870 Marine Mag. which has "Electroless" plating. It is also no plating on the inside of the 7600. There will be no nickel plating on the end of the barrel after it is shortened.


I think I'm just going to stick with a black matte non-reflective finish and synthethc stocked 30-06 carbine and call it good.
