Actually, I had thought of that. I reconsidered when I read up on alon fabrication for a thesis. They haven't perfected "transparent aluminum" yet. Yes, it's the same stuff that was talked about in the television show, Star Trek. It's really aluminum oxynitride. They haven't worked out how to produce it as clear as it needs to be. It's still somewhat cloudy, and 'spensive, as we say around the lab. Alon (AY-lon) is an extremely hard material, with real potential, but we're a few years away from this.

So that means I'm back looking at conventional scopes made by Coke or Pepsi.
