There are millions of handguns already out there.
They cannot control that. All they really have to do is control the ammo.
Yes, that is why people are buying anything that hits the shelves, although I am told the situation is getting better. They can not realistically eliminate the 2nd Amendment, therefore, going after ammunition makes a whole lot of sense.
