FLPanhandle: Welcome to the CampFire Dave - I hope you enjoy your stay.
Years ago I had a custom Rifle built on a Remington 700 action in caliber 17 Mach IV. It has a HEAVY 26 1/2" Shilen stainless barrel, Jewell trigger and a "Model 70 Winchester Marksman" profile fiberglass stock.
It weighs 11 pounds and 14 ounces with Leupold high powered variable scope.
It shoots just about everything "VERY" well!
I did load development with H 4198, IMR 4227, H 322, AA 2460 and W 748 powders!
Like I said it shot most every load I tried very well - but I settled on 19.0 grains of W 748 powder, Federal 205 M (Match) primers and Berger 25 grain bullets in re-formed Remington 221 Remington Fireball brass.
I enjoyed shooting and Hunting with this Rifle/caliber so much that I later bought a Remington 700 VSF (heavy 26" fluted barrel with Varmint style stock) in the 17 Remington Fireball (the 17 Mach IV's twin).
I immediately tried my favored load of 19.0 grains of W 748, Federal 205 M (Match) primers and the Berger 25 grainers in Remington 17 Remington Fireball brass and it shot so well I have never tried a different loading in it to this day!
Best of luck with your 17 Mach IV.
Hold into the wind
