For pompano and whiting all you need is a light to medium action 6 to 6.5" bass rod as those are relatively small fish that we here in NC catch in very skinny water.. If you want to throw out for blues I'd recommend a 10' to 11' spinning rod. I have a (maybe) Diawa I got at BPS several years ago. Been a good one.
