Brakes can do damage to hearing as well, even with muffs. Has something to do with concussive transfer through the cheekbone to ear canal….or some schidt like that.
I shoot and hunt with suppressors because they make the shooting experience “nicer”, doesn’t spook game to the extent a louden-boomer would, allowing follow ups on groups of targets and they are [bleep] cool 😎 .
