I've always used the same bullets and powders for my heavy and light loads, whatever the caliber -- just load 'em light or load 'em heavy. I use only the Keith bullets and their close copies and have had no cause for complaint. In the old days, I cast all my bullets. In recent years, I've bought a lot of cast bullets (Keith-type) but will soon be casting again.
My first cast bullets (in a .38-44 S&W Outdoorsman, about 1952) were round-noses with a flat front -- about 150 to 160 grains. As soon as I heard how much better the Keith bullet was, I went to that and similar semiwadcutters and found that the rumors were sound. In the .357s, .44s, and .45s that followed that old .38 Special, I've gotten my best results, all-around, with heavy semiwadcutters.
