All of my rifles wear this mountain slings. I was going to purchase 2 or 3 more today and it appears that they have been discontinued. Butler Creeks web site still shows them but when you click on "Purchase" they are not listed in the options. Midway has them as "Discontinued".

It appears Blackhawk makes a sling called a Mountain Sling. Does anyone know if it is similar to the Butler Creek? I know the Blackhawk is 1.25" wide where you could get a Butler Creek 1.00" wide, but I could live with that.

I am not interested in a leather sling.

Anyone who has used both your help would be greatly appreciated.

You might consider the Boonie Packer strap.

The non-slip rubber knit strips kick @ss.
Best strap I've ever used. And the price is right. smile

SKane,

Thanks for the link. That looks more like what I have. I like the 1" width, it digs into my shoulder a little and helps hold the rifle in place.

The rubber knit strips will keep it in place.

That would be a bummer if they discontinued that sling. My favorite sling and all my hunting rifles has one.

I've got about 5 of the blackhawk slings in service, and just ordered 5 or 6 more. I'm more than pleased with them. They use the blackhawk swivels of course, and have the non-slip liner. I would highly recommend them. I haven't tried any other slings since discovering these. Not sure how they compare to the butler creek, but by all appearances online they are very similar.

Uncle Mike's took over the Mountain Sling if I'm not mistaken. Bought one not long ago and love it.

I also though Uncle Mikes took over the Mountain Sling but in looking at their web site it appears they no longer make slings. They do make many types of swivels thou.

It appears the Boonie Packer Strap recommended by SKane and the Blackhawk are very similar to the old Butler Creek Mountain Sling we all loved, which was a thin nylon with sewed-in swivels and a non-slip patch.

I guess I am going to buy one each of the Boonie and the Blackhawk and see how they compare to my existing Butler Creeks.

I will keep you posted as to what I find.

GROVTEC....Mountaineer...same sling but made in the USA. Comes in Black, Camo, True Timber Orange and True Timber pink....about $20.00.

I spoke to the owner of GROVTEC at the 2012 SHOT Show...the main reason he opened the company is because Uncle Mike's started making it's goods in china...

I used to be a huge BC fan on all my rifles and shotguns, but I tried a Claw and saw the light. The Quake Claw Contour Rifle Sling will hang on like no other.

These are fantastic. Your rifle will not fall off your shoulder unless you want it to.
