Looking for good powder for 180 gr loads. Does anyone use H4831SC
in there 30-06.

H4831SC usually very well with 180's in the .30-06. In fact the non-short-cut version also works fine.

I like H 4350 with 180's in the .30/06 where full velocity is easily achieved. I never found any success with the batch of H 4831sc I have with velocities 200-300fps lower that others report on here for the same charges.

Because H 4350 works so reliably, I never felt enthused enough to explore different batches of H 4831 in recent years.

I've used a lot of 4350, 4831, 3100, and H414. All have given good accuracy and velocity whenever I let the rifle decide what it likes best.

Ramhot Hunter and RL22 should be looked at as well. Sorry, I know you asked about H4831....

IMR4831 has always been my "try first" powder for 180 grain .30/06 loads. Most of the time it gives very good accuracy. A case full (59 grains) seldom approaches the muzzle speeds reported in various reloading manuals, but the deer don't seem to mind.

What is your load with H4350?

I have a few lbs of Ramshot Hunter also. Do you have any good loads with this powder.

H4350. Work up to 58.0 grains or 2800-2825 ft/sec in a 24" barrel. I've also had good luck with Re 17 in the 06 with 180's. H4831 has worked but I've never gotten the velocity out of it mainly because my cases won't hold enough powder. I think its a bit too slow for the 06.

IMR 4350 generally does quite well w/bullet weights 150-180 grs. Also found Rel 19 can give just as good accuracy and a few more fps. A newer one I'll be using in the field this year is 55 grs IMR 4451 under a 180 Partition. Velocity in a 24" barrel is 2750+ and very good accuracy. Have a cow elk hunt on Sept 1st, I'm sure it will work fine!

I have had good accuracy with both H and IMR4350 as well as H4831 and RL22, with the 4350s providing a bit more speed, but I no longer get that excited about a bit more speed.

I'll second Bwinter's load of 58.0 grs of H-4350 (WLRM primer and R-P nickel cases) with a 180 A/bond; it gives factory advertised velocities from my 22" Mtn rifle and works great on elk from 25 yards to almost 500.

I'm not a high speed guy, but 55 grains of H4350 shoots best with 180 gr bullets of several a differnt brands inmy Pre 64 Win FWT.
However I get the same accuracy out of H4831 , about 57 to 58 grains.

JBs load of Hunter w/180s in my 22" Featherweight is 2850fps. H4831 is not even close. Never used 4350 w/180s.

Hunter is my #1 choice with 180's in the .30-06. Ramshot lists up to 60 grains with some bullets but I usually end up using around 58-59 with Nosler Partitions. Velocity runs from 2750 in "slow" 22-inch barrels to 2800+ in most 24's. Accuracy ix excellent and the load performs about the same in a wide variety of temperatures.
