I just bought a combo gun (BRNO) in 22 Savage HP/5.6x52R and am trying to find a box of bullets 70 gr Hornadys or Buffalo Arms.

Loaded ammo is around and my rifle likes the 70gr S&B but would really like to be able to reload for it.

Any leads would be apreciated.

IIRC, the 70 grain Hornadys don't have a great reputation for accuracy in Savage 99 22HPs.

The 70gr S&B round shoots very good , 5 shots I can cover with the palm of my hand at 200 yards, three of the five I could cover with a 50 cent piece. That was with a very coarse reticled 1-4x20mm VX-1 Shotgun scope.
I've read most of what has been written about the 22 HP and it sounds like the Savage 1-12 twist is more of the problem than the actual Hornady bullet.

Nope, our Savages have a nominal twist of 1-12", which as John stuttered isn't enough to stabilize the relatively long Hornady spire point. Shortening said bullets makes them viable in the Savages. I can't speak to the twist rates of the many varied European arms chambered for the .22HP.

First go to Buffalo Arms. They carry the Hornady bullet as well as their own proprietary bullets. If they're out of stock then you are on your own. Catch them as catch can. The Hornady's seem to be a "seasonal" thing, and appear sporadically. My advice is to stock up on them when you find them.

The Speer 70 grain bullets have been discontinued for a decade or two now. Grab them when you find them.

Haunting the Want To Buy marketplaces around the internet for the last 10 years has turned up a plethora of different .228 bullets which now reside in my stash. That's about the only advice I can offer. I figure I'm set for life, and no, I'm not inclined to part with any. I spent too much time/energy/money to build up that stash to want to part with any!

I wasn't asking anyone for their personal stash of bullets. If you read my post all the way I was asking for any leads to the location of some, for example "my uncle tom has a few boxes he's trying to find a home for", "Dave's gunshop has some on the shelf, I'll shoot you the address".

This is doing what you suggested, haunting the internet looking for some, I've checked all the major outlets and they are dry, I'm a member here and a 1899/99 owner and know that you guy's might be a good source for a lead.
