First time using hornady dies for me too.
That retaining clip on the seating die is pretty interesting - not exactly sure what function it performs...but it does stick through a fair amount into the barrel, but it also manages to miss scraping the sleeve.
Probably on disassembly for cleaning I'll figure out what job that clip does....
It's you and the bullet, and all the rest is secondary.

Periodaux gave me that velocity, he made up 100 rounds of softs and solids when I bought the rifle from Champlin.....I haven't chronoed it, just know it makes nice sub-1 inch pairs at 50 yards if I do my part. sounded a bit high based on published data but maybe its a fast rifle? Been shooting the load for seven years without event.

I just bought a Ruger #1 450/400 and was wondering if anyone has tried the 300gr bullet? I have used a 300gr in my 416 Taylor on deer and elk and was curious as to the performance in the Ruger.
