With Kimber, All-American means Central and North, not literally All as South is still missing.... SAS - any truth to the rumor of threaded barells? That is true as well.... From the EO webpage: This Kimber 84M Montana is a great light weight rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. It offers all of the American manufacturing, accuracy and reliability that you have come to love from Kimber. This rifle features a light weight and durable composite stock, stainless steel action and barrel, threaded barrel and a sub MOA guarantee. Bad move

I'm not sure I follow the factory ammo advantage folks are mentioning with the 6.5CM over the .260. A quick search of Midway shows 7 offerings for the 6.5, and 19 different loads for the .260. Seems the .260 has a clear advantage in factory ammo. What am I missing?
I don't reload, but looking at both, along with the 7mm-08 for my granddaughter. From what i am told, the factory Amax stuff is so good that competition shooters out in the Boise area buy it by the case, and stay "competitive" with it. Apparently the stuff is very accurate and consistent. The cartridge was designed from the ground up to be a match cartridge with factory ammo good enough for folks to compete. I've been told you can't really beat the factory load accuracy by hand loading. If you've got one good target load, and one good hunting load that shoots in your rifle, you don't need much else. The Hornady lineup has a bullet for everything.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

BobinNh is correct. I have a semi custom creedmoor with a 3 groove 26 inch pac nor barrel. If I'm on, it makes 1 messy hole with 120 amax factory ammo at 200yds (5 shot groups ). I have a very accurate ttsx load for hunting, but not as accurate as factory Hornady.

Well crap, all this talk of the 6.5 Creedmoor has me thinking...
I'm sending Mini-me's f'kd up 700 youth .243 into LRI to accurize and rebarrel.
Have a Bartlein 2b 6mm 8 twist, was leaning toward just sticking with the 243 and gunning the 105 scenar and/or Amax. However, I also have a 6.5mm 8 twist, thinking the 6.5 Creed might be more better than the .260 or 6.5x47...
Have 243, .260 and 7-08 dies and brass, and 6.5 creed dies and brass even though I don't own a 6.5 creed...

I don't reload, but looking at both, along with the 7mm-08 for my granddaughter. The difference is that the Hornady and Winchester/Olin factory ammo is excellent, very accurate, and the 260 ammo tends to be "meh". There are more factory ammo options for the 260, it has been in production longer, but not as many good/accurate options. If you don't reload, the 6.5 Creedmoor and Hornady factory ammo combo is the way to go. The 129 grain Hornady at 2,950 fps shoots about like a 130 grain 270, but with less recoil.

My take on the Creed. I purchased this rifle as a beater and loaner and to be honest didn't expect the accuracy from such a cheap rifle. I really didn't expect to pick it over my .243AI for hunting this season. However, I love my cheap little 6.5 Creed RAR Predator. So far we have shot five deer using the Hornady Match Ammo in 140gr A-Max and I'm really impressed. I decided to use the Factory Match Ammo since I had two boxes and it was 100ft/s faster than my reloads plus it was almost as accurate. I first started reloading using 42.4gr of H4350 under the 140gr A-Max. Here is shots 6,7,8 out of the new rifle at 100yds. I decided to try some Berger 140gr Hunting VLD's using the same load as the A-Max loaded to magazine length. Below is a group using the same 42.4gr load of H4350. This is a 200yrd group and measures .547". I haven't ran these over the chrono yet either. Below is a buck shot at 10yds entrance side. Buck jumped ran 15 yds stopped and then flipped over on its back. Exit Entrance on the right exit on the left. Sorry didn't get a great picture but the exit hole is about half the size of the entrance. Doe shot at 200yds she ran about 80yds before giving up the ghost. I'm so impressed with this round I have parts at my gunsmith having one built. My 8yr old son just killed his first two deer and used this rifle and now wants his own RAP 6.5 Creed. I will post pics of his kills tomorrow. He shot a big doe right through both shoulders at 150yds, she dropped so fast her chin bounced. If the Hornady Precision Hunter with the ELD-X shoots this good I may never reload for this rifle. The VLD load is very impressive and I have 250 pieces of brass. Very nice problem to have.

A famous gun writer told me the 6.5 creedmoor wouldn't equal my .257 wby. He was probably right based on flat out speed, but it kills the same with 25-30 grains less of powder based on what load I'm shooting, less recoil, and did I mention I can buy factory match ammo for a third of what I can buy factory weatherby ammo.
The 130 grain vld is a killer!
