Has anyone had a laminate stock done with either method?
Would like to add some texture to a smooth finished stock.

Talk to Tim Smith-Lyon at Classic Stocks. He did a first class checkering job on a laminated stock of mine.

I finished this Boyd Jon Sundra Laminate with a tung oil/urethane product from Brownells. I sent it to Errol Case in MO for Winchester pattern checkering. It wasn't that expensive and looks better, IMO, than stippling. http://www.casecustomgunstocks.com/DF

That's a pretty laminate stock. I like it very much.

I've had Ahlman's in Morristown, MN, checker a couple of laminatged stocks and have come away pleased with the results. www.ahlmans.com

Bought a CZ527 several years ago, very accurate for a factory rifle. but I just hated the stock, finished and bedded a laminated Boyds stock but was hard to hold onto. had a local gunsmith checker it for me but the price was shocking (ask price first)

Have checkered and stippled many stocks. In fact made some of my "extra" money as a checkerer for a few years.
Stippling is easy to do by yourself. Just draw an outline of the the area, then tap everything inside with a small nail set.
Checkering is tougher!
