The PPU ammo is about half the price of other 69 gr BTHP's and they call themselves "Match" ammo

Is the PPU really "Match" grade?

Depends on what match grade means to you. For most manufacturers "match grade" is just a load that uses a match bullet. For me, match grade should be capable of MOA accuracy or better.

I would expect "match" ammo to have tighter specifications then standard ammo with respect to powder weight, bullet weight, bullet shape and bullet concetricity.

But maybe I expect too much.

I have one box of the PPU that cost $9.95 for a box of 20 and I will find out next trip to the range if it shoots well.

I haven't shot any of their "match" ammo, but I've shot a lot of their FMJ 55 gr stuff & it shoots as well as any other comparable load & their brass is good.

Here's an older evaluation of their 77 gr OTM Match ammo.......I would guess that the 69's are probably comparable in performance.

I've shot their 168gr load from my .308 AR and it was pretty good. Around 1 MOA for 5 shots, maybe less. I would guess their 69gr load would be good but probably not as consistent as other known match loads.

Powder weight is often not the issue, the sweet spot and powder volume are often the issue to get to accuracy... but I digress.

I have not shot their match ammo, but have used some of their match bullets in component form. They shot OK, but not as well as their respective counterpart from Nosler, Hornady, or Sierra.

My experience, as well.

Handloads, black hills etc.

I looked thru my groupings photos and did not seem to label them adequately. I ran the 69 grain bullets in a 3 gun match as my steel ringer out to 400 yards.

Like most loaded ammo, I have a couple guns it shots well in and some that don’t like it. It does well in my tikka T3 with 1-8 twist and my dads AR15 with same. Not quite as well in my AR15 with 1-7 twist and poorly in a friends 1-9 twist barrel.

average for my tikka is under 1” for 5 shots. A little better in my dads AR.

My AR likes the 75 grain better than the 69 grain but shoots both of them fairly well. I've used the 75 grain when hunting coyotes, it worked well for that application as well.
