I was surprised how soon 3 of the 6 surviving battleships from the Pearl Harbor attack were repaired and returned to the fleet. I was also surprised to learn that the majority of the USN cruisers lost during WW2 were lost in the sea battle around Guadalcanal and how the USN had failed to recognize how lethal the Japanese "long lance" type 93 torpedo would be.
