After the Safari grade, best rifle Browning ever made

I have one in 30-06 that was my first deer rifle purchase,very accurate solid action.

From what I can remember of one I had years ago they are heavy as hell!

that is why I sold mine...a .270 as well but on the other hand that lil' .308 BLR was pretty peachy.

The BBR was one of those rifles which, like many of Browning's offerings, have some interesting features and, overall, are even a decent rifle in many regards. However, from a gunsmith's point of view they had some flaws as well. So many of them showed up with stocks which were broken through the wrist that one couldn't help but think it was a problem any owner was going to have to deal with sooner or later.
I buillt a 416 Taylor on one for one fellow and, I have to say, it made a pretty decnt rifle. In the relatively heavy caliber, weight wasn't a problem;infact, it was beneficial.
I liked the BBR trigger mechanism better than the A-Bolt but neither one is what I would have designed. All in all, not a bad rifle of unconventioal design. GD

Interesting comment on the build you did. It is a very strong action and mine was always suprisingly accurate. I have a barreled action with probably 50 rounds on it that I might sell if anybody was looking.

I purchased an A bolt in 375 H&H when a friend got divorced for a very reasonable price, its fairly heavy but on that caliber thats not always a bad thing, its very accurate and I know he had used it only twice before selling it to me, he had killed both an elk and a mule deer on that one hunt. Id hand loaded the 300 grain hornady bullets over a stiff but listed book load of WW760 and watched him sight in, he maintained groups right at 1" off the bench at 100 yards so its not a bad rifle as far as accuracy goes.
If youve ever used a 375 H&H on elk you know its effective, even my little 20" barrel sako carbine in 375 H&H hits like thors hammer, and the browning A-bolt with its longer barrel and heavier weights a pleasure to shoot in comparison, even thought the sakos hardly what you might think abusive

I've only dealt with one. My FIL picked up a BBR in 7RM that was in pretty sad shape. I refinished the stock, cleaned it thoroughly, and replaced the bolt stop. After that I tested it with some Fed blue box 160s and Hdy 139 ILBTs. It shot both loads just shy of 1" at 100. Seemed like a decent rig to me.

The actions are stout. Its a multi lug arrangement very similar to the weatherby. The triggers were pretty good, real good if you get it tweaked. Most came with an aluminum block that ran the length of the forearm.

Not a light rifle. These were produced before men became too weak to carry a 7 3/4 Pound gun.

The ones I've owned and shot have all been good shooters. The only thing I didn't like is the gun has more parts than the space shuttle.

I have one in .30-06 that I really like. Have yet to shoot anything with it, but the weight doesn't bother me. I don't plan on hiking 4 miles carrying it. It will be used from a stand. Below is a link to a chapter on the BBR.

Browning BBR

My father gave me one that he took in trade, about a 99% rifle, really beautiful wood. I'll have to take it out and see how it shoots. It is a little heavy and appears to have a 24"barrel with nice deep blue.

Looking for a BBR short action stock. Impossible to find.

My dad has a BBR in 7 mag that is stil! new in the box. We put a satalite dish in for a gunshop near freedom Wyoming over 30 years ago and took a few rifles in part trade.
