For those that haven't seen this - and are interested - please go to this site and express your interest in a real steel 5 or 10 rd mag to replace those cheesy plastic units that Remington put out.

outbackgunpartswssbcglobal.net

I have no connection with these folks, but did ask them to put me down for 2-5 rd clips and 1-10 rd for my CMP 541X

Dons1: Repeatedly tried the link without success.
Could you double check it?

Thanks for the tip V. I've got to change my brand of Scotch.
I had posted their EMail. Their REAL internet address is at the bottom of this post.

Here is their latest status:

UPDATE: 10/25/2011

Many of you have shown interest in a metal magazine
assembly for the Remington Model 541 & 581.

This project was under consideration for a while and
was a little delayed but is well underway at this time.

This project was taken on with quality as its primary
consideration and I believe most will be pleased with
the results.

We do not have an exact completion date as yet but
I am pleased with the progress so far.

By the next update we hope to have projected date of
availability along with a price.

Thanks
Wendell

Let us know when they start to ship--I could use a few of those if they are affordable enough.

I really hope this comes to be. I've sold two awesome 541 rifles just because I loathe the freaking magazines.
The 541 to me is as good as a rimfire can get except for the mag.

I emailed them as well. With a couple of metal 5 shot and a 10 shot, I could be happy and never want another .22. I love the way my 541 shoots but hate the cheesy plastic magazine

Seems now Wisner's is working on something too.

With all the aftermarket mags that Wisners, Brownells, Numrich, etc sell, it's odd they haven't put something on the market by now for the 541/581's. Especially, since all those 541X's hit the market from CMP.

I believe that Ma Remmy still sells the el plastico mags for these 22's. Guess the aftermarket vendors heretofore felt that was good enough for the 541/581 users. Not so.

I just contacted these folks and they said the project for the magazines was on hold. This was 3/18/2015. Your post is from 2011 and they still have not made any magazines. I would love to have two ten round magazines but it doesn't look promising. The ones I have are ten round plastic or polymer junk.

I own a 541T and it is a tack driver but the magazines both the five and ten round are completely worthless. What I have is a target grade single shot rifle.

I have a 581 that I got for Christmas in 1967. I picked up a spare mag about 10 years ago on an impulse in a LGS. The original started balking a bit a few years ago, so I swapped it put and started using the new one. Based on my experience with the old one, I will need another about 2053 or so.

Pretty they ain't, but they do work, at least the 5-shot.

I've had a few mags that would puke bullets but of the 20+ I own, it really is only a few that look like they have some serious miles on them. Pretty sure the Nylon 77 magazines work also.

I believe the Remington 10-round plastic are still available. No 5's unless you have old ones. These aren't the best, but they do work.

I have enough 5 rounds to hold me and a whole shooting team for a few years. I sold off 10 a few years ago on here. Check ebay they have 5 rounders on there.

The way it sounds from Outback Gun Parts there will be no Model 541 Metal Magazines anytime in the near future.
