I have an IMI Timberwolf in 357 and a Ruger 96/44 in 44 mag
Both barrels are 18.5" and both are 1 in 20" twist barrels. Neither of these would be used for hunting > than 150 yards. What scopes would you mount? Thank you for your opinions.

4x with a #4 reticle.

OR, that pig plex from leupold.

I was just reminiscing over the 96/44 I sold a few years back, chocking that up to one of my less intelligent decisions.

My 96/44 is gonna wear either a VX-1 2x7x33 Shotgun w/Hvy. Duplex or a Timberline 2x7x26. I haven't decided which yet.

I've got a Vari-X III 1.5x5x20 w/Hvy. Duplex that needs a new home.

I just bought a Swarovski Habicht 4X off of the classifieds. I'm leaning towards mounting that on the 96/44. I do have an extra Leupold Vari-X II 2x7x28 this could be the one that goes on the Timberwolf not sure yet. Both of these rifles have integral top mount receiver's which I really like.

I use this Leupold...

https://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/scopes/vx-2-riflescopes/vx-2-2-7x33mm/

With this reticle....

https://www.leupold.com/reticles/lr-duplex/

I figure out the drop, and use the 2nd and 3rd dots at the longer ranges.

Crosshairs are zeroed at 50yds, which when hunting in the deeper woods is a long shot!

VX1 2-7X is on my .35 Rem.
Not expensive and works fine (so far both deer only shot at 2x and 3x).

1-5x might be better.

Reg duplex works for me.

Movers a 1X is tough to beat.

Ran a cheap Bushnell on a .44 mag Marlin.
No longer have the gun or skinny woman.
1.5-5X IIRC

Not a typical pistol cartridge, but a woods gun. 18.5" .375 has a Weaver 2.5

Marlin .357 has a Leupold 2.5

Both are splendid woods setups.

I have a 1-4X20 Leupold VX-2 on my 77/44. I have used a 2.5X20 FX-II, but prefer the field of view on the 1-4X20.

The eye relief of the 2.5 is handy on a hard-kicker like my .45-70.

If you still have the woman pictured but in a different form, don't parade that picture around too much. If you've got a completely new version, ditch the pic carefully. laugh

Oh, and my vote goes for a 2.5X if you can still find one.
