Many years ago I purchased my first 7-08 and the only factory ammo the guy had at the time, 140gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertips.
Since then I've had a few more 7-08s and still have two.
Over the years I've tried hand loading different bullets, weights, lengths, powders, etc. yet I haven't come up with anything that shoots better than those Winchester BSTs. In fact, being naturally lazy, I recently picked up another box of factory.
And they tend to drop our Texas whitetails rather quickly.

The factory load that shoots best in my Kimber is the federal blue box classic 150 grn. Its heavier than I need for deer. Have you tried that load on deer? I would expect it to work admirably. Not many deer live through a well placed 150 gr bullet. I was going to suggest the OP try the blue box Federals.

Here's a sweet deal that is too good to pass up. This is about 33% of what you would normally pay. Grab a couple/three boxes and see how they do. I've never shot these out of my Ruger, but I ordered 5 boxes anyway. If nothing else, it's about the cost of new brass, so I'm really not out much if my rifle doesn't like them. Federal Premium 7-08 140 grn Barnes TSX. $15/box $12.99 flat rate shipping. http://massammo.com/federal-7mm-08-r...round-box.html

I would also jump on the Hornady WT. A friend was using them on my range and they shot extremely well. The 139 is a proven performer. I have shot them for many years in a 7mag. I, too, will NEVER shoot another animal with an SST (better known as Super Suck Tipped).
You did not "seen" anything, you "saw" it. A "creek" has water in it, a "crick" is what you get in your neck. Liberals with guns are nothing but hypocrites.
