The TD's started around 70,000. Will guess that the 1899-H TD was available about the same time.

Cross bolt change in the 204xxx to 206xxx range.

How about 2042xx with and 2051xx without the cross bolt.

I have not seen one with the later 2 screws and the cross bolt, if that's what you stated earlier.

On the 1899-H TD... Murray states it was added 1909. The earliest H TD in my data is 81xxx, produced 12/1907. But, I did not always note TD's in my early data so might be earlier ones. With the TD feature offered around 70,000 I would guess that there might be 1899-H TD's dating from that serial range.

yes 19445x has both cross bolt and 2 screws

so 2042xx has a crossbolt and probaly had the 2 screws as well?

I checked 197xxx, 200xxx, 201xxx and the 2042xx, all are cross bolt, only.

Having both styles might make since if on a later rifle (post cross bolt)then it might have been just using up old parts. But having a later style feature on an early rifle makes little since. I don't see it as being a common occurrence. The forearm wood would have to be shortened, metal would have to be notched for the 2 screw plate and the serial stamped in the channel.

Anyone else have TD's in this 193xxx to 206xxx range with both cross bolt and 2 screw plate.

small blush update to your numbers of up to 2042xx with just a cross bolt i checked mine ,, the ser no was on a piece of tape in the channel ,i presumed it came off a rifle of that ser no , but there is NO SER NO on the forearm, must have come off a 22HP i parted out??

so mabey it was after 2042xx.?????
