Just ordered an 8 lb jug of Clay Dot for my 12 gauge Skeet and Sporting Clays shooting at my gun club. Looks like their are a lot of good 7/8 oz loads starting at 1200'/s and up with different wads and hulls. Pressures seem very reasonable. Had used Promo, 700X, American Select, and Red Dot. First time for Clay Dot, heard good things. Anyone using this powder and any favorite loads?

I haven't used it yet but a couple of my shooting partners use it and are happy with it. I don't know the exact recipes they are using but I can't imagine there are any that will not prove satisfactory. Pick one from the book for which you can readily get components and load up.

I started using it last year on 7/8ths and 3/4 oz. 12 gauge loads, in both Remington Gun Club hulls and CF Win. AA's. I think it works fine and bought an 8lb jug myself. Most of my 12 gauge loading over the last few years had been with Clays. My loads are from the data on the wad bags and Claybuster sight. Also, check out shotgunworld reloading forum, do a search there and it's mentioned quite a bit.

It's good stuff, I've loaded thousands of shells with it, mostly 7/8 and 1 oz stuff.

I use:

STS hull
Win 209 primer
CB 7/8 (gray) or 1 oz (pink) AA clone wad
18/Clay Dot (for either 7/8 or 1 oz)

I started using it this winter when I finally used up all of my Clays. Ran a few test loads through the chronograph and on the patterning board, ended up with the same recipe I used for Clays:
STS hulls
Claybuster CB-1100-12 wads (pink AA clone)
Rem primer
1 oz #8 or 7 1/2 shot
18.0 gr. Clay Dot
average velocity just under 1200 fps

Burns pretty clean, identical to Clays for all practical purposes.
