No need to spend $150 on a good boot when it really matters.
Go K-Mart - Texas Steers $39 (break-in not required).
Thank me post trip amigo...

Where I hunt, muck boots.
Mud and water, no hiking.

I've had really good luck with Herman's Survivors, but they're a little lower price point than what you're looking at.

Boots are one of the worst things to try to save money on. You will deeply regret it at the worst possible time. Take serious hunting boots...... seriously. I have decades of military and hunting experience. Not sure what your exact brand will be, but if you discover the best for you costs $225, then save $225 before you go shopping. My least expensive but still "awesome" boot is the Danner RAT. Every foot is different though. You can look around and get these a lot cheaper than $350. Way, way cheaper. They are very high quality boots. http://www.danner.com/usmc-rat-8-mojave-gtx.htmlGood luck on your search.

richethec,
Maybe I'm just cheap. I go to either Big 5 or Walmart and try on boots until I find ones that fit the way I want. Sometimes I have to take one from this box and another of the same thing from another box. The last pair I bought cost the most of any I purchased for myself at $65. I wear then a lot as everyday shoes for awhile so they are totally "broken in" for I need them.

Plenty of good ones around that price point at Sierra Trading Post. Depends on how/where you hunt also. Backpack or no, insulation or dessert, active walking or stand. Irregardless, you'll find close out deals on namebrands there. Was just looking at a pair of Zamberlan Trek Lite's for $179. The Italian-made Norwegian Welt, double-stitched Alico Summit is another classic hiker/hunter. That's 179 also.

Once I finally parted with some serious $ and found a boot that fit well, kept my feet warm & dry and lasted well I regretted not doing it sooner. Good luck on your search.

In the slough I hunt in I've started wearing Lacrosse venom snake boots. They're actually pretty comfortable. But in drier areas, I just wear some comfortable hiking boots.

Lacrosse and Danner for me. My Lacrosse boots have lasted for over 20 years and my Danners feel like I made them for myself. I told my wife that I want to be buried in my Lacrosses.

I've been wearing Under Armour Brow Tines for the last couple years. Got a pair that were insulated, then bought an uninsulated pair. Without question, these are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. Very good for walking and support on uneven ground. They are Gore Tex, so they breath and are waterproof. Still wear Danners at work, but the UA boots are outstanding hunting boots. Might run a bit over the $150 mark, but I believe they're well worth it.

Nothing at $150 I'd recommend. Get closer $200 and there are a lot of good options. A good pair of boots will last you 5-10 years if primarily used for hunting and will be cheaper in the long run. I've worn a pair of Danners for as long as 13 years. I find that the boots marketed as hiking boots give you a lot more boot for the money than those marketed toward hunters. Been wearing these in green and black for the last 4 years, but I paid a bit over $200. http://www.amazon.com/Salomon-Quest...37&sr=8-1&keywords=salomon+bootsTried on a pair of these recently. This may be my next pair http://www.amazon.com/Oboz-Wind-Riv...p;sr=8-16&keywords=oboz+hiking+boots
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
