What's the difference. I'm going to set up a Rem 870 youth 20ga for turkeys only and think I'll stick a sight on there. My eyes are pretty bad and I shoot right handed but I'm left eye dominant.

Theres no going back on that dominant eye/hand shooting. I started right handed as a kid before I or anyone I shot with knew about that.

I know the speed bead is a mounting system. I'm looking for that vs the mounting on top of the receiver.

I way prefer the speed bead. It is less obtrusive and allows you to wrap your hand around the receiver to grab your gun. It is also out of the way tucked down low. I use it for waterfowl too.

I think with the 870 20 gauge you are limited to the fastfire with the receiver mount, no speedbead mount available. I think it would work great especially for a really tight patterning turkey load.

There are a bunch of guy on Old Gobbler that use that set up.

Also check out shortactionsmoker's thread in this forum.

I've built 8-10 870 20's for turkey guns. I've put a rail on every receiver. Most use the Burris FFII or III's. I can still wrap my hand around the receiver on my gun and carry it no problem. From what I've seen kids have a really tough time with the Speedbead finding the dot in the scope and being able to hold the front of the gun up. Might not be an issue if only you are using the gun.

I'd 100% recommend getting on Old Gobbler and finding the guy that makes the protectors for the Fast Fires like you see above on my gun. It's saved my FF countless times.

The speed bead is the mount that is pressed between the buttstock and the receiver. The FFII and FFIII is the sight. I really like my FFIII mounted on the speed bead on my 870. The speed bead keeps the sight down close to the barrel line and reduces POI considerations.

I'm looking for another FFIII and speed bead right now for another 870.

Didn't realize the speed bead for the 870 was specific to 12 gauge.

You should look at both in person if that's a possibility. I don't like the SB personally, the dot is too close to the bead and if your gun/choke/load is off poi/poa with the bead, it's going to bother you a bit. I like the dot to be well up above the bead/rib. The 336 mount is plenty low and more secure. My SOP on a new rig is drill/tap for a 336 and bed it straight with the receiver. You can also run multiple other reflex sights on Burris mounts if you decided to stray from the FF line as well.

I have seen it. And do want it close as I can. That said I want the SB on a 20ga and it doesn't look like they make one.
