Reloder 17 will get you in that Neighborhood also.

With Reloader 17...... is the load development method also to 'pierce a Magnum primer... then back off 40-50fps'?

What barrel length are you running Eryhk?

I have to lean on 123s to see 3k.... and I'm not shy about mashing on the pedal and letting the brass decide. But alas, I'm running 20" and 23" barrels respectively. H4350/Varget/4831, RE17/19/22/25, IMR7828, Magpro.... none of them could get me over 2925 with 130 H-VLDs without seeing/feeling some stress in the brass.

Here's a couple more .260 loads that have run well recently....

23" Rock 1-8"....
Remington Brass
140 Amax
fed 210
48.0 IMR 7828 SSC
2800fps

20" Tikka CTR
123 Scenar (or Amax/MatchKing)
Lapua Brass
fed 210
40.5 IMR 4064
2875fps

Definitely worth investigating. Seems to get a little more velocity than H4350 did for me and accuracy was ok too.

I started with Reloder 17 before data was available.
With 130 gr. Berger hunting VLDS I worked up to 45 grs. Very slowly from 42 grs.
This was at an OAL of 2.99" Into the lands just a small amount in my gun.
Nosler load dat shows 45 grs. as max for their 129 gr ABLR at 2.80OAL and their velocity is 3045fpswith 26" barrel.
My 30" krieger beats that by a 100 fps. No pressures signs and accurate. .3-.4'" average at 100 and under an inch off a bipod at 200.
The antelope and hog harvested with it are the only complainers thus far with Reloder 17......

P.s. Its a plains gun so 30" of barrel and 16lbs of weight ain't a problem. Shorter barrels in this caliber I have little experience with.

I don't know anything about 'plains rifles'.....

Here's the only one that ever weighed 16lbs.... and it lasted about a month before I got sick of packing that fhugkin boat anchor.... it was a 22" 6.5x47 that made 2825ish with 130 VLDs , and it was accurate as hell.... but worthless as a 'plains rifle'...

The plains around here ain't that flat, thankfully, but still no trees to clank barrels on. I do not mind the weight or length of my gun for most of my antelope hunting, but I do have a 7 lb. .243 for a stalking/walking gun also.

True. I know several people who are complete and total A-holes to everybody who is not one of their sycophants who are also correct in various analyses they present. When the homunculus from Alaska states things my father told me decades before I readily admit that he knows at least some things.

127 LRX
0.050" jump (OAL is about 2.870")
WW7-08 brass necked down
210m
45.6gr H4350

2920fps from a 22" barreled GAP 260. That velocity is based on come ups out to 700 yards measured at 7500' ASL and has held true up to almost 10,000'ASL and down to 940' ASL.

Hot load so start around 42.0 and work up. No pressure signs in my rifle, but 46.0 did start to show pressure and 46.3 had signs of pressure on most cases.

Anyone try Hodgden Superformance with 130g bullets? Based on the Barnes data posted earlier, it should be great velocity if it's accurate.

Barnes Data with a 120 gr TTSX looks great in the 260 Rem.

They list Superformance powder with a 120 TTSX or TSX :

41.7 gr Min @ 2697 fps and 46.3 c gr @ 2963

c = compressed load

Did some work with IMR 4451 in my Savage Predator Max.

Sierra 130 gr HPBT - 43 gr - Lapua case - CCI 200 - 2899 fps and accurate

129 gr Hornady Spire Point - 43 gr - Lapua case - CCI 200 - 2862 fps. Every other 6.5 mm gun I have owned loves this bullet except this one for some reason. Oh well it shoots lots of others great though.

Five shots at 100 yrds with an upper end load of R17 (2715fps), 22 " barrel, Berger 140 VLD-Hunting bullet, seated to about .015 off the lands. No pressure signs whatsoever.
Rifle was a bone stock tikka t-3 hunter (wood stock).

I found IMR4320 to be a diamond in the rough with my daughter's Rem Model 7 and the Sierra 120gr PH.

[Linked Image]

My Rem 700 shot really well with both IMR4064 and RL19 and the Sierra 120gr PH.
