Hey all,

Each time I've fired my 6.5 Creedmoor ( fired once as factory ammo and now fired and reloaded twice more) my brass needs to be trimmed to get back to spec

1.910 trim length and 1.920 max case length as I recall offhand sitting in my recliner.

Ending up at 1.925 brass length consistently after resizing each time.

Unusual for me, typically get 3-5 uses out of other bottle neck cartridges before trimming required.

Shooting in a Ruger Precision Rifle and it's extremely accurate. Over sized chamber a remote possibility?

Interesting problem.

How much is your size die squeezing the case bodies, both in diameter and taper?

I have a number of 308 Win. FL size dies and by far the Hornady lengthens the brass the most. It sizes the brass to "just came out of the bag" diameter and taper dimensions, so the brass has nowhere to go but flowing forward.

Hmmm. I have never measured that. Fits my concentriciry gauge and chambers with ease. Never took it any further. I'll put the calipers to use after I shoot it next week.

How did you set up the die? Did you just screw it in until it butted against the shell-holder (which most directions suggest), or test it with cases until they JUST chambered fairly easily, with a hint of resistance?

Quite a difference in chamber size between my sons Ruger American Predator and mine in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Just trimmed some brass and half needed it rest was fine.

Bought the Worlds Finest Trimmer and case trimming is no longer a chore works great. But cases need to be FL resized but I size them to my chamber.

kk alaska,

Little Crow will make a WFT case holder for neck-sized cases (as I recall for free) if you send them a few sample cases.

Mule Deer, simply screwed down the die til it touches. Will try and adjust a bit next round.

Thanks all for the feedback!!!3
