My hunting partner and I just returned from our successful antelope hunt in WY. We drew unit 52-1 tags. The animals we took far exceeded my expectations. My bud had the 1st shot opportunity as he had never hunted antelope before. We/he turned down the antelope I eventually shot. We were pleasantly surprised by the mass my buck had. My buck green scores 82 ¼ and his goat scores 79 3/8.

For the required gun report, my buddy shot his with a Browning A-Bolt .300 Win Mag shooting factory 165 gr. Federal Fusion at the range of 71 yds. I was using my Remington 700 custom .338 Win Mag with 180 BT’s around 3100 FPS. at a range of 111 yds. Ironically we spent half a morning resighting in our scopes at our customary 100 yd. zero to 1” high at 200 yds. All that for shots that are the norm for us back home in Carolina. Just goes to show you if you actually hunt, you don’t need to be a sniper with all the turrets and charts to shoot an animal, just saying. wink

Both really nice bucks - congrats to you both. Did you guys get rained on much?? Seems they have been getting plenty of rain the last couple of weeks.

I hope to be posting up some pictures soon as well, leaving for my Wyoming antelope hunt early tomorrow morning - can't wait!!

Congrats on a great hunt. Not sure why it took "half
The morning" to adjust your scope a inch or two though? Maybe those guys with the turrets and charts are a little more familiar with their equipment....just sayin

The best part of our hunt was even though we had private land access to approximately 200,000 acres of private ground; both the bucks were killed on public land. The season had been opened for a week and no one had killed these bucks. My buck was hanging out in an area about 1 mile from a county road. My buddies buck dropped 300 yds. from a county road. We never saw another hunter the entire time we were there. I guess the locals got their bucks the opening weekend.

Nice goats! An 82 is nothing to sneeze at...

Heard the bucks are really getting into the rut, should be a fun time this weekend!

Excellent bucks, C Roy. Very happy for you. You deserve all the bucks and bulls that come your way.
