She decided for her first elk she wanted to pack it out on her back instead of using our pack stock we have. She busted her ass to fill her cow tag this year and didn't complain one bit when we had to pack it right at 2 miles. I may have gotten the "go to hell" look from her once or twice though. Excellent, you're a lucky man. You can't have a good hunt without a least a couple "go to hell" looks!! Congrats.

I think I've created a monster though as she has been bitten by the elk bug pretty bad Lots of things seem important before the elk bug hits you. Once you get it ,it is only curable by being in the areas where you can smell the musky smell of elk wafting through the trees..........

I was amazed I got her to walk out in the dark after we found lion tracks in the same drainage as us. I'm sure your hunting techniques weren't crowding the lion at all.
