Worked up loads in my custom 26" barreled, 700. Groups really started to shine at 76.5-77 grains of R33. No pressure signs, easy extraction, no ejector marks. Velocity was right at 3200 fps with the 77 grain load. 1.3", 200 yards, groups with both the 76.5 and 77 grain loads. Just wondering if I should go up a bit in load testing ....77 gr seems like a lot of powder...?

RL-33 is good powder.
Working up 26 Nosler loads, I learned that Berger doesn't want their VLD Hunting bullet running faster than 3,100 fps. They suggested Target VLD's with the heavier jacket for the faster round.
If used for hunting, you may want to consider that, check with Berger.

It's my go-to powder for my 264. Shooting the 142gr LRAB's I'm using 77 gr and getting 3200-3250 with it. Took it up to 79 grains but started getting extractor marks and the accuracy went the he!! Punched through both shoulders on my elk this year at 137 yards.

Had no problem hitting 3300 fps with the 130 AB and Magnum. But my 264 has 27 inches to work with.

I get 3300 from my 26" M70 with 7828 and 125 Partitions. No need for more weight ,more velocity, or more BC. Plenty for me and where and how I hunt.
The only one I ever recovered was from the right ham, just under the skin, from a mature buck that was facing me at about 180 yards. It looked like a Nosler ad. All the other bullets are still going, as far as I know And I have never had a deer take a step after being hit with this combo.

RBH, Guys are using the 130 VLD and the 130 JLK out of the 6.5 SAUM at 3,200-3,300 fps muzzle velocity with great results. The 130 VLD will kill stuff quite dead...
