Any of you guys have info about them? We have a local gun shop that swears by them. There isn't much on the web about them. So I thought I would asked the experts.

I have heard of them but nothing specific. Seems like they are milled to use a DIAS or at least have a low shelf but I'm not sure on that. Don't recall anything negative about them, for a mutt build anyway.

My local fun shop swears by the the brand they have in stock too... doesn't matter which brand they're selling at the time.

They're all "just as good" according to lots of folk. I am not one of those folk, I have seen issues with a few different brands but then again I'm pretty picky so it all depends on what you want to do with it.

Did a google. Seems like TWR is correct pretty much. Should be fine for non top line build up.

FWIW I've seen errors with top line brand names and seen "junk" lowers run just fine and vice versa, but if after top of the line function and accuracy, one can never go wrong by spending a bit more to get known names. Least they'll stand behind it all.

And as far as I know, most all lowers are all done by continental machining and stamped whatever is desired. CLE even has a run of lowers now and again.

CMT did do alot of forgings and machining for different companies to each companies specs but there are others out there. Now that they've brought about their complete gun line and are building S&W's guns they are getting behind as well as becoming competition. You should see more name brand companies using someone else.

Always wondered how much of a hassle it would be to spec out 100 jolly roger ones and then sell em. Might have to check into it one day.

TWR-- got any good data on other companies doing the work? IE links or contact info if I decide to call CMT and others about a special lower?

I have used a few of the Double-Star lowers and have had zero problems with them. Good fit and finish, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one.

I shoot a double star and love it. Bought it about 4 years ago and have had no problems with it. Mine has a 24inch bull barrel.

I have one and have shot more than 1000rds of tracers and 5000rds of FMJ with no mis fires or jams. I got it wanting to hate it because of what we had to put up with in Viet Nam but this weapon is so relible and Iput sand over it, shot it in the heat and now this winter at 18 below with still no mis fires. These guys in Ky know what a weapon has to go through and has come up to the calling.
My Son has a Bushmaster 5.56 and he hasn't shot the rds that I have but has had 9 mis fires with only 3500 rds.
No I swear by mine, Hope this helps. Sam of Pa.

Sat through a Double Star seminar and the stuff looks first rate. Only issue was the finish on complete guns appeared shiny black.

Ended up buying a one piece mount, riser, ring setup and absolutely love it. Repeatable zero and quick detach, non-glare finish. Can swap a scope with irons or reflex on M4 Bushmaster.

I think it is a quality outfit.
